Harsh Collective is pleased to present Irresolute, an online exhibition featuring Miram Anglin, Jacky Boehm, Anya Gudimova, Noah Hornik, Olga Krykun, Katie Leimbach, and Nickie Zimov.
The word resolution, “a firm decision to do or not do something,” implies finality. It exists in a world of black and white—to falter is to fail. This, combined with their often lofty nature and typical root in self-loathing, make New Year’s resolutions veritable recipes for disaster. Irresolute reminds viewers that (1) it’s alright to indulge in (guilty) pleasures; (2) self-improvement is not linear, goals and methods can change; (3) happiness is not a destination, it does not live on the other side of an accomplishment.
