Josie Tolliver Shaw is a collector and painter based in New York CIty. She pieces together photos of friends, road trip souvenirs, and bedroom windowsill altars to construct her idealized matriarchal world. She paints scenes of a definitively homosocial space, as free from the male gaze as a space can be. Her work also explores the sacred practice of collecting and how selection saturates objects with sentimentality.
